Module Assembly
The aggregation logic shows how 26x26-foot modules expand into larger clusters, support school-wide runoff capture, and remain repairable after damage without rebuilding the entire system.
How it grows
Each classroom sits within a three-module assembly: deck → classroom → walkway. This tripartite arrangement ensures every enclosed space is flanked by semi-covered and exterior zones, eliminating corridors while creating graduated thresholds between public and private territory. The grid allows the aggregation to step with grade changes — the school site has a 12-foot elevation change — using identical construction details across varying terrain.
Why it matters for recovery
The kit-of-parts system positions the module as a prototype for housing, shelter, and community anchor construction across Lahaina’s recovery: fast deployment through community assembly, off-grid capable, and resilient to future disruptions. Damage to one module does not disable the whole; repair is incremental, not total reconstruction.
