Zoning Breakdown for Post-Fire Lahaina

Author’s research note analyzing all 17 zoning types in post-fire Lahaina, identifying which zones are promising versus problematic for rebuilding. The analysis informed the thesis’s re-densification strategy, including the finding that pre-fire zoning produced a “bad middle ground” — housing not dense enough to support robust transit or services, yet not dispersed enough to provide defensible space against wildfires.
