Community Hub Typology Matrix

The three community hubs are sized and programmed to serve daily life and convert to emergency operations when needed. Each hub combines education, health, and emergency response under one roof so that no single-use facility sits empty during normal conditions.

Hub types

1. Hub 1 — Lahaina Luna Park (elementary school & community center): daily education and recreation; emergency shelter and coordination point.
2. Hub 2 — Kahoma Health Campus (clinic & senior center): primary care, mental health services, senior programs; emergency medical triage.
3. Hub 3 — Coastal Neighborhood Center (fire station & gathering hall): first response, neighborhood meetings; emergency staging and supply distribution.

Spatial distribution logic

The hubs are positioned so that every residence in the redensified core falls within a 10-minute walk of at least one hub. Overlapping service radii provide redundancy during evacuation or infrastructure failure.
